My Metaphorical Upstairs Neighbors
29: what I meant last week, what’s important to me, what is or isn’t working for me right now
Hey y’all!
I have decided to switcheroo my paid subscriber benefits as my newly strategized life schedule does not fit in an extra post during the month, nor do I think I need to. Posting one blog post a week is already a great exercise for me and I do not want to push myself too hard. I am on a 28 week streak on posting every week and I think it best to put my all into one post a week while making at least one post per month paid-exclusive. This means MOST of my posts will still be free to all viewers and subscribers.
For those who may be new here, each blog post is basically a very organized and crafted personal journal entry essay I post for the world to see every week. Paid subscribers have extra perks free subscribers do not, like the ability to direct the content of my posts by requesting topics. I also promised paid subscribers the hot gossip— ya know, the deep stories, aka the tea. But so far all the deets have been public knowledge, with no exclusive tea served to only the paid subscribers…
until today!
Yes! You read that right, paid subscribers! Your time has come.
But first: let me explain some stuff, state some disclaimers, and share my gratitude!
Some Explanation
1- I understand cause and effect.
Yes, I am aware my actions have consequences. Deciding to put anything out into the world may or may not boomerang back at me unfavorably and I understand this. I just believe that putting my truth out there— especially with the intention and motivation to connect with others who may feel similarly— will cause an effect than is meant to happen.
2- This is my necessary journey.
I am not out here trying to be Duke Caboom (hehe we are rewatching the Toy Story series— can you tell) or take unnecessary risks, but I’m out here trying to show a younger Gabby that her opinions, feelings, and beliefs are relevant and important to me/her, ya know? I do like to have subscribers and nice feedback is nice, but I have control of what comments I allow to impact my view of myself. I’m trying to fight my tendency to abandon Lil’ Gab and instead be my own biggest fan by posting what I would have written anyways.
3- Words have power.
As much as they have power to do harm, they have power to do good. I am so passionate about bringing a much-needed very-human representation of someone who is a believer in God and everything else I happen to be. Whether you’re a former teacher, an adoptee, an insecure flower, or anything else adjacent to these things I’ve shared about myself in the past, I hope my stories help you or someone you love feel less alone. I hope my heart reaches yours.
Disclaimer
I speak for myself and myself only.
Zach’s experiences are different than mine and my friends’ & family’s experiences are different than mine as well. I be out here reppin’ my own truth, not theirs.
I reserve the right to whatever scraps of privacy I decide to keep.
In this blog, I have gone from referring to myself as “Gab” to “Gabby” to finally allowing my author name to be my actual name. I obviously reserve the right to code name, rename, not mention, or vaguely describe whatever I please.
Again, this blog is my public online diary a collection of my own personal short essays.
You are welcome to read and enjoy. You are also welcome to read and walk away. I definitely have goals to entertain, connect, and give my take on what my readers are interested in, but, ultimately, my blog exists as an outlet for my own creative expression and I’m allowed to follow my inspiration where it takes me, even if the direction is questionable.
Also THANK YOU.
Thank you for caring enough to hear me out and read what’s on my heart.
Thank you for being kind in your comments and supportive in your subscriptions. A special thanks to those close friends who accept me as I am.
Thank you to my parents for reading all my posts and supporting my perspective. ♥️
Thank you to my husband who wants to protect me from all treacherous roads but still trusts and encourages me to journey where I need to.
Lastly, a big thank you to my paid subscribers for literally paying me to spill the tea and wear my heart on…the page! (Don’t unsubscribe for bad jokes lol)
And now…
